10. The Word Conquers

Overview – The Word Conquers

The Word of God’s Mission

The mission of Jesus, God’s Messiah, is to fully restore the kingdom of God on earth, as prophesied.
Dan 7:13-14 Eph 1:9-10
However, before He can establish the kingdom on earth, He has to first defeat the principalities and powers that are ruling in the world. This work started at the cross and He finishes it when He returns.
Col 2:15 Eph 6:11-12

The Word of God Returns

The Messiah is called the Word of God when He returns to earth with His armies – the glorified saints and angels. Then the power of God’s Word defeats the forces of darkness and His light shines over the nations.
Mat 24:29-31 Rev 19:11-16
This section covers:
  • The start of the Messiah’s Mission to restore the kingdom
  • God’s Wrath over the powers and authorities and also the rebellious wicked
  • Dominion over the earth passes from the forces of darkness (Satan) to the Messiah
    Luk 4:5-6 Eph 2:1-7
By conquering the forces of darkness, the Messiah becomes King of kings and Lord of lords over the whole earth. For the next 1,000 years His priority is to restore the kingdom of God on earth and save the elect. That story is told in the next page: 11. The Kingdom Comes

Takeaways – The Word Conquers

Beliefs

  • There are different understandings about the timing of the ‘rapture’, however there is more agreement that the glorified saints are with the Messiah when He returns.
    1Th 3:13
We may not all agree on the exact timing of the ‘rapture’ until it happens.

  • Similarly, there are different understandings about the 1,000 years; however there is agreement about judgement and eternal condemnation at the Messiah’s return. Again we will find out if it is the final judgment or if there is 2nd judgement after 1,000 years.
  • In the parable of the faithful and wicked servants, it is worth noting that when the Master returns:
    • the ‘faithful servant’ is the one who stays and rules for the Master.
    • the ‘one taken’ is the one who is killed and has eternal condemnation.

Actions:

  • There is agreement about helping people into the kingdom before the Messiah returns.
  • Whatever your end times beliefs are, it is still worthwhile reading the prophetic scriptures and working out how you think they could be fulfilled. The word of Yahweh does not return empty!
    Isa 55:11
  • Jesus and Paul told believers to watch, be ready and to not be deceived.
    Mat 24:11-14 2Th 2:3-4

The 2nd Coming of the Messiah

Messiah’s 1st Coming

When the Messiah was born to a woman called Mary, He was named Jesus, which means ‘Yahweh Saves’. Yahweh send His only begotten Son so that believers would not perish but have eternal life. Since then, He has been interceding for the salvation of the saints.
Jhn 3:16 Isa 59:14-18

Messiah’s 2nd Coming

The next time He comes, it is to Judge and Reign on earth as King of kings and Lord of lords. Paradoxically, scripture says that no one knows His name, despite being described as Faithful and True and named ‘the Word of God’.
Rev 19:11-16

The Messiah Returns

The Messiah will return to bring an end to the great Tribulation of Israel.
Zec 13:8-9 Jer 30:7-9
The language Jesus used to describe the destruction of Jerusalem in AD70 is considered by some to be a fore-shadow of the tribulation that is to come.
Mat 24:15-22 Dan 12:1 Dan 12:10, 13

The Messiah Conquers

Before the Messiah can establish His Kingdom on earth, He has to conquer the ruling authorities of this age who are causing the great Tribulation. They are in rebellion against God, His ways and His people.
Dan 2:34-35
They are empowered by Satan and the anti-Christ (the Beast), assisted by Kings (leaders) and supported by many people in the nations.
Rev 13:1-5 Rev 17:12-14 Rev 20:1-3
Yahweh, God the Father, will send His Son, in His name, to Judge the Wicked and remove this rebellious evil from the earth before He establishes His Kingdom of earth.
Isa 66:15-18

God’s Enemies are Judged

The Messiah brings God's judgement - On the dragon, anti-christ and the wicked — His Finished Work

“The hour of God’s judgment
upon the wicked
has come.”

The Messiah’s Judgement:

  • Final Judgement falls on the Beast (anti-Christ).
    Dan 7:9-11
  • Final Judgement falls on the army and people of the Beast (Gog of Magog), also known as Armageddon.

Dominion is taken from the Beast

  • Dominion on earth returns to the Messiah, Son of David. He reigns on earth with His believers.
    Rev 20:6

  • In the beginning dominion over all the earth was give to Adam.
Through the fall, Adam put his dominion under the authority of the Serpent.
Throughout the ages, the Serpent gave power to anti-Christs to destroy God’s people and land. When the Messiah returns to earth as King, He will destroy the ruler of the final age. Then dominion is returned to God’s Messiah and His saints as it was in the Garden of Eden.
    Dan 7:26-27

1,000 Year Reign

  • The Messiah, the Son of David, starts by cleansing the land of Israel by burying all the dead bodies; this takes seven months.
    Ezk 39:11-13

There are four basic stages that herald in the New Heaven and Earth with Yahweh.

1,000 Years – Establishing the Kingdom on Earth

  1. After removing evil from the earth, the Messiah establishes Israel in their land. He first gathers Israel from the four corners of the world and then puts God’s spirit in them to be obedient. Then He begins His reign from Jerusalem.
    Ezk 36:24-28 Deu 30:4-5
  2. Then His dominion is spread over the nations as they accept the Messiah as their King and Lord. They then come up to Jerusalem to worship Yahweh.
    Isa 2:2-4
  3. After 1,000 years the Messiah delivers the perfected Kingdom to God the Father.
    1Co 15:24-26 Dan 7:27

Eternity – God dwells with mankind on earth
