9. The Word is Worthy

The Heavens declare His Glory - Worthy is the Lamb
Yahweh’s Presence: In Heaven Rev 4:8-11

The Word is Worthy – Overview

Remember the former things of old

In the beginning, God knew that the only way for mankind to dwell in His holy presence was through His Word. This is His plan:
Isa 46:9-10
  1. First, God created the world through His Word.
    2Pe 3:5 Jhn 1:1-3

  2. Then, God sent His Word to become flesh and redeem mankind from sin.
    Jhn 1:14 Eph 1:3-10

  3. Finally, God will send His Word to destroy His enemies and to glorify the elect.
    Rev 19:11-13
This culminates in a world of peace, with no more pain, where Yahweh dwells with His glorified people.

Why the Word alone is worthy

The Messiah’s perfect obedience qualified Him to fulfil all the works that God the Father had prepared:
  • His Obedient, Sinless Life on earth
  • His Suffering and Death on the Cross
  • His Resurrection
  • His Ascension to the right hand of God
  • His Intercession for salvation
  • His Return to reign on the earth
  • His Victory over sin and death

Takeaways

Beliefs

  • Take reassurance in all circumstances that God’s plan existed from before time.
  • God’s plan will continue to unfold as prophesied in His Word.

Actions:

  • When reading the bible, look out for End Times promises and events.
  • Widen your understanding of the Gospel of the Kingdom beyond the Cross.

What makes the Word Worthy?

The Word Created the heavens and the earth - The Word was made flesh to suffer and die to be resurrected and glorified — His Finished Work

Creation

Everything that exists was created through the Word of God. The Word is instrumental in every aspect of establishing God’s creation on earth, therefore He has pre-eminence above all things.
Col 1:18-20

Timing

God sent His Son to earth so that His elect would have eternal life.
Jhn 3:16
Only God knows when He will send His Messiah to reign as King of kings on earth.
Mat 24:36-39 Luk 1:31-33
The Messiah will reign on earth until He has put an end to all rule and all authority and power. He will destroy death, and then the end comes.
1Co 15:23-26

The Cross

Jesus lived a sinless, righteous life. His obedience to the Father and Scripture was tested and proven by His agreement to suffer and die on the Cross. Without His obedience, He would not have died on the cross. Without His sinless life, His Father would not have been able to raise Him from the dead. Luk 22:42 Mat 26:53-54 Php 2:8-11

Resurrection

Death, the wages of sin, could not hold Jesus because He had not sinned. Therefore death will not be able to hold all those who are ‘in Christ’.
Rom 6:23 Psa 16:9-11 Rom 8:11

Ascension

Jesus ascended to Heaven and sits at the right hand of the throne of God, a position of delegated authority and power.
Heb 12:1-2 Eph 1:19-21
That is the work Jesus, the Servant, has already finished.

Intercession

Jesus, our High Priest and Passover lamb, is now interceding for the salvation of the elect.
Heb 6:19-20 Heb 7:24-25

The Messiah will Return

The angel warns of coming judgement - preaching the gospel of the kingdom — His Finished Work

“Fear God and give glory to Him,
for the hour of His judgment has come.”

Before the Messiah Returns

There are seven prerequisites for the return of God’s Messiah that must be fulfilled by others:
  1. The mission of Jesus’ followers is to make disciples of all the nations.
    Mat 28:18-20
  2. The full number who are killed for their faith is complete.
    Rev 6:9-11
  3. The fullness of the Gentiles has to come in before all Israel can be saved.
    Rom 11:25-27
  4. The Lamb is declared worthy to open the Seals of the Scroll:
    a) He is the Son of David (King of Israel)
    b) His sacrifice on the cross
    c) He redeemed the saints
    d) In view of the prayers of the saints
    Rev 5:1-6 Rev 5:8-10
  5. An angel preaches the Gospel of the Kingdom to all nations before judgement comes on them.
    Rev 14:6-7 Mat 24:11-14
  6. The Jews call out for their Messiah to return.
    Mat 23:38-39
  7. The Bride of the Lamb has made herself ready for the Marriage of the Lamb.
    Rev 19:6-8
The Word is Worthy and the Bride is Ready

The Messiah Returns and Reigns

After the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, the Messiah returns with His army and defeats the Beast (anti-Christ) and all his followers. He then locks up Satan to prevent him from deceiving the world.
Rev 19:19-21 Rev 20:2-3
At this point the ruler of the world is defeated and the Messiah becomes the King of this age – the Kingdom of God on earth.
Jhn 12:31
The Messiah has become Lord of lords and King of kings and sits on His throne over all peoples, nations and languages on earth. He gives dominion to the saints who rule over the nations with Him.
Dan 7:13-14 Dan 7:27

What happens after this?

9. The Word Conquers

The Messiah reigns over the Kingdom of God with His regenerated saints for 1,000 years. Then Satan is released to gather all those who still rebel and refuse to worship Yahweh. They will be consumed by fire, leaving only the elect on earth. During the 1,000 years of peace and abundance, the population fills the earth as God had commanded Adam.
Rev 20:7-11

    • The Jews calling for their Messiah heralds His return as King of Israel and the ending of Great Tribulation. His name is called the Word of God.

  • The Messiah is worthy to reign on Earth

    • After the Great Tribulation and God’s wrath has fallen on His enemies (similar to the 10 plagues on Egypt) and after the fulness of the Gentiles has come in, the Messiah returns for His elect, from every tribe, tongue, people and nation. (His authority comes from His sacrificial death and the prayers of the saints He has redeemed.)
      Dan 7:9-12 Rev 19:19-21 Rom 11:25-27 Dan 7:13-14 Rev 5:8-9
  • Gathering the Elect to reign throughout the world

    • The messiah comes as:
      a) Son of David, King of Israel Jer 30:4-9 Ezk 37:24-25
      b) King of kings, over the nations Rev 19:11-16
      c) Promised Redeemer of a Covenant Isa 59:19-21 Ezk 37:26-28

The elect who sleep are resurrected from their graves, gathered along with the living elect and all are given incorruptible and immortal bodies.

This is portrayed as the Marriage Supper of the Lamb and they will always be with Him. They will rule with the Messiah throughout the world in every nation, tribe, tongue, and people for 1,000 years.
      Mat 24:29-31 Ezk 37:12-14 1Th 4:14-17 Rev 19:6-9 Rev 20:5-6

One consequence of this is that in the Kingdom of God there will be resurrected, immortal believers will be in every nation, tribe, tongue and will be able to teach and demonstrate the Kingdom of God like Jesus did. They will be be given authority to reign over the whole world with the Messiah for the 1,000 years.

In the abundant and fruitful Kingdom of God the population may well grow exponentially and will need many teachers of God’s ways and judges of situations.
      Jer 23:5-6 Mat 19:28 Rev 5:9-10 Isa 2:2-4
